Vivid Sydney… Light ’em Up

Our adventures typically have an element of camping in them, however that is not to say we also don’t enjoy the ‘finer things’ life like flushing toilets, climate control and having someone else cook for you.

Don’t get me wrong… we love camping. A campfire, a few beers and unpolluted skies are hard to beat BUT the kids and I (Kell) would not say no to spending the night in a hotel admiring all the city lights.

As you might have seen on our Facebook and Instagram, we spent the night living it up in the big smoke. Taking advantage of the Minion makeover in Travelodge Hotels to celebrate the release Despicable Me 3, we treated the kids to an unforgettable experience. Read more about it here.

The dates happened to line up perfectly with Vivid Sydney and as we had never been before, we strapped on our walking shoes and made the most the experience. We walked, and walked…. and walked. Taking in all the sites until it was time for dinner.

Circular Quay Sydney Harbour Bridge and Sydney Opera House
We enjoyed fish and chips at Circular Quay. I must say, having dinner on a park bench overlooking the Sydney Harbour is totally underrated! Great food, great company and an incredible view.

WOW! I don’t what I was expecting but WOW just about sums up what we experienced. I had seen countless photos of Vivid Sydney plastered all over social media but in person, it is something else entirely.

The lights are amazing and fill not just the iconic landmarks but also the sky. The atmosphere is buzzing and celebratory. It was immersive!

I was in Sydney for work a few years ago when it was on. I didn’t know it was on and had never heard of it, but it was beautiful!
